Description

Learn the attributes and gestures of an effective belay, and apply that knowledge to a variety of belay devices and contexts. After a discussion with instructors, attendees will practice belaying with a variety manual & assisted braking devices.

Goals

  • Learn the three universal belay principles

  • Apply the universal belay principles across a variety of belay devices

  • Apply the universal belay principles for toprope, lead, and direct belaying

Required Gear - you will provide this gear, or you will rent it from TRC

  • Climbing harness

Optional Gear - we will provide this gear, you are welcome to use your own

  • 1+ belay device of your choice
