Whether you’re a knot novice or a master ropegun, this clinic has content for you. Join us for a hands-on, self-guided presentation of climbing knots. Never tied a figure-8? Join the beginner track to work with a few common knots and their purposes. Excited about sharing your favorite bowline variant? Join the advanced track and put your experience to the test.
Gain information and experience with common climbing materials, knots, and hitches.
Knots/hitches discussed: figure 8 knots, overhand knots, basic hitches, friction hitches, flat overhand/Patagonia knot, bowline, BHK, clove hitch, munter hitch.
Required Gear - you will provide this gear, or rent it from TRC
Optional Gear - we will provide this gear, you are welcome to use your own
Note: TRC’s shop stocks all of the gear we use in our clinic.

Ashley Book of Knots (archive.org) - originally published in 1944, this encyclopedia is still one of the most important and comprehensive books on knots.
Open Space Format - learn more about how the clinic will be organized. We use a modified version of this format.
